Planet IX: Mission Control — Raiding

Agents of Change,

In our Mission Control blog-post here, we introduce several new game mechanics which include: Waste NFTs and their usage, Raiding, and Loot Crates. We will further detail raiding in this post, to give the players an idea of what’s to come. Raiding will be an exciting element in Planet IX, as it introduces true player vs player (PvP) gameplay into the ecosystem.

What is Raiding?

Each player will operate their own Mission Control. This new view in the game will feature 6 open tiles at first, in which land(PIX and Territories) , technology, and structures can be staked. By staking in-game assets in Mission Control, players will begin generating Waste which will be a core asset in this season of Planet IX.

Raiding allows the player to loot waste from another player. To begin raiding, generate a list of opposing players from Mission Control and decide who is the most advantageous prospect to raid. Astro Credits can be spent to reroll the list for potentially better targets.

The success of a raid is not certain, and the amount of waste looted from another player will be a function of the raider’s performance in a mini-game associated with raiding. The player being raided will also have the opportunity to play the same mini-game in the hopes of fending off intruders. There is a 6 hour window for the raided player to defend themselves by playing the mini-game, if they score higher than the raider then the attack will be evaded.

Raiding boosts

To maximize Waste collection, players will choose the best prospect from the randomly generated list. We will also introduce an inventory system where NFT assets can be placed that can boost aiding capabilities. For example: receive 10% increase in raiding success or 10% increase in defense. It will be important for each player to strategize to determine how they want to play the game. Y_, an in-game corporation, will sell attack and defense technology which can be placed on the tiles. Will you become a consistent raider or will you build up your defense to protect your waste?

Looking forward

We are so excited to continuously introduce new mechanics and assets that allow players to find their own metagame. Strategy will become even more important than ever when Mission Control launches, and it is important to be prepared. Users who are active daily will have an advantage both in terms of waste collection and defending themselves from raids. Performing in-game functions will always be rewarded, please stay tuned for what is to come.
